Summerfield pedestrian struck, killed by truck on SE 36th Avenue
A 53-year-old Summerfield woman was hit and killed this morning by a pickup truck while she was walking along SE 36th Avenue.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred this morning in Summerfield at around 6:30 a.m.
A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 62-year-old Summerfield woman was traveling south on SE 36th Avenue, close to the intersection at SE 143rd Lane.
The 53-year-old Summerfield pedestrian was walking west across an unlit section of SE 36th Avenue and was in the oncoming path of the truck, according to the FHP report.
Before the pedestrian could step onto the west shoulder of the road, she was struck by the front, right side of the truck.
The pedestrian was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck was not injured.
The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released, per FHP policy.
