25-year-old man killed in early morning Marion County crash

A 25-year-old Micanopy man was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Marion County early this morning.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, at around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday morning, the man was driving a sedan westbound along County Road 316.

Near the road’s intersection with NW 40th Avenue Road, he lost control of the vehicle, veered right onto the grassy shoulder, and collided with a large oak tree, according to the FHP incident report.

After his vehicle collided with the tree, it caught fire and burned.

He was pronounced deceased on the scene and his name has not been released, per Florida Highway Patrol policy.
