Man, 53, dies three days after traveling into pickup’s path at Greenacres intersection
GREENACRES — A 53-year-old Greenacres man died Thursday afternoon , three days after he sustained critical injuries in a crash as he tried to cross an intersection with his bicycle, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Paramedics took Andrew Reamsnyder to Delray Medical Center after the crash Monday at 10th Avenue North and Sherwood Forest Boulevard, according to a report made public Friday.
Deputies said Reamsnyder tried to cross the intersection with his Kulana Beach Cruiser bicycle just after noon and walked into the path of a 2013 Fort F-350 pickup as the truck turned south from 10th Avenue North onto Sherwood Forest.
The crash trapped Reamsnyder between the truck and the bicycle before he landed on the pavement, according to the crash report. Reamsnyder did not press the crosswalk signal to stop oncoming traffic before walking into the roadway, deputies said.
The pickup driver, a 58-year-old man from Broward County, did not sustain injuries and is not facing charges in the wreck, according to the report. It did not say how fast the truck was traveling at the time of the crash.
