Orlando cyclist, 42, dies in east Orange crash, FHP says

A 42-year-old cyclist died Thursday afternoon after he was hit by a SUV in east Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The unidentified Orlando man was riding in the bicycle lane on Colonial Drive, near Lake Pickett Road, when the SUV struck him from behind, said FHP spokesperson Sgt. Tara Crescenzi.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The SUV’s driver, a 41-year-old New Jersey woman, was not injured, Crescenzi said.

Troopers are still investigating the deadly crash.
