Kissimmee man killed in I-4 crash near Orange-Osceola county line

Fatal wreck slows I-4 east near State Road 536

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 34-year-old Kissimmee man was killed early Tuesday when a pickup truck rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 4 near the Osceola-Orange county line, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck was reported around 1:15 a.m. on I-4 east near State Road 536 in Osceola County. The center and right lanes of I-4 east were blocked, causing delays through the morning commute.

The FHP said a 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by a 26-year-old Windermere man failed to slow as it approached a semitrailer in the right lane of I-4 east. The driver of the pickup swerved, but the front right of the Tundra struck the back of the trailer, killing the Kissimmee man, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, according to the FHP.

The driver of the Tundra suffered minor injuries, an FHP crash report stated. The big rig driver, a 44-year-old Bradenton man, was not injured, troopers said.

All three men were wearing seat belts, the crash report said.
