18-year-old dead after head-on crash in Estero

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old Immokalee man is dead after a major crash on Corkscrew and Alico Roads in Estero Wednesday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the crash that shut down all lanes of Corkscrew Road in the area for several hours.

The 18-year-old was driving a pickup truck west on Corkscrew Road, just west of Alico Road. The other car involved in the crash was driving east on Corkscrew Road.

Troopers confirmed the teen pickup truck went into the eastbound lanes right in front of the second car, slamming into it. The pickup truck spun out.

FHP said the teen was pronounced dead on scene. A 36-year-old Estero woman was driving the second car but was not injured in the crash.
