Fort Myers woman killed in 4-vehicle Buckingham crash Thursday evening

A 69-year-old Fort Myers woman was killed in a four-vehicle crash after veering into oncoming traffic in Buckingham Thursday evening.

The woman was driving her car west on Orange River Boulevard, east of Shady River Lane around 6:30 p.m. An SUV, a pickup truck and another sedan were traveling east on Orange River Boulevard, east of Shady River Lane. The woman failed to maintain a single lane
and entered the eastbound lane of travel.

The left side of her car sideswiped the left side of the SUV, the front left of the car collided with the front left of the pickup, and the pickup then collided with a bridge barrier
and came to rest in the westbound lane of travel. The other sedan collided with debris from the crash and came to rest in the eastbound lane.

The woman’s car rotated and came to rest in the westbound lane. She was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead Friday.Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
