29-year-old dies in motorcycle crash near Lantana airport
A 29-year-old Atlantis man died early Sunday after his motorcycle collided with a car near the Palm Beach County Park Airport in Lantana.
Phillip John Hutchinson was driving his 2021 Kawk Ninja motorcycle west on Lantana Road at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when it collided with a car making a left turn out of the airport, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office sheriff’s report.
The car was driven by 19-year-old Juan Andres Ortiz of Wellington and had three passengers in it ranging in age from 16 to 21.
Hutchinson’s motorcycle hit the driver’s-side front corner of the car driven by Ortiz. Hutchinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s report notes that high speed may have been a contributing factor in the collision.
