APOLLO BEACH — One Tampa man died and another was seriously injured when they were ejected from a pickup truck as it spun out of control and overturned on Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Neither man was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday south of the Big Bend Road interchange.
The driver, 33, was headed north on I-75 when he lost control and the pickup spun onto the inside shoulder, traveled back to the outside shoulder and overturned a number of times, the Highway Patrol said.
The driver died at the scene and the passenger, 22, received serious injuries.
