Lehigh Acres woman killed in Hardee County crash

HARDEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lehigh Acres woman was killed and four others were seriously injured in a crash on County Road 663 at State Road 64 in Hardee County Sunday night.

Around 9:40 p.m., a 60-year-old Lehigh Acres man driving an SUV ran a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a pickup truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 60-year-old was driving with three passengers including an 89-year-old Lehigh Acres woman, a 27-year-old Fort Myers man, and a 59-year-old Fort Myers woman.

The 89-year-old woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital, troopers said.

The three other passengers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A 54-year-old Wauchula man driving the pickup truck was also seriously injured in the crash.

FHP is continuing to investigate the crash. No further details were immediately available.
