Motorcyclist seriously injured in parking lot crash at Phipps Park

A 67-year-old man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after a crash between his motorcycle and a Mazda Miata in a parking lot at Phipps Ocean Park in Palm Beach. 

Palm Beach Police spokesman Capt. Will Rothrock said the crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. “as the southbound Mazda was turning into the south lot of Phipps Ocean Park while the motorcyclist was also traveling southbound behind the Mazda.”  

The motorcyclist, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm. He “is still in serious condition at the hospital,” Rothrock said Tuesday.

The crash closed the northbound and southbound lanes of South Ocean Boulevard in the area of Phipps Park for about two and half hours.
