Deadly crash: Truck strikes woman, child in cart as they cross Atlantic Ave. in suburban Delray
DELRAY BEACH — A woman was killed and a 1-year-old girl injured as they attempted to cross Atlantic Avenue west of Delray Beach on Friday night and walked into the path of a truck, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office said.
The woman, identified as 29-year-old Maria Gonzalez Orandez of Delray Beach, was pushing the youngster in a child’s cart just before 7 p.m. when she attempted to cross Atlantic Avenue in the 9700 block, just east of U.S. 441. Gonzalez Orandez and the girl were then hit by a Ford F150 driven by Emeliano Juares Munoz, 30, also of Delray Beach, deputies said.
