Woman dies in St. Petersburg tractor-trailer crash, police say

ST. PETERSBURG — A woman died Sunday afternoon after she drove into the back of a parked tractor-trailer, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Just before noon, a tractor-trailer owned by A&B Moving Solutions was stopped in the north curb lane of 1st Avenue North, in the 4700 block. The driver of the tractor-trailer had made a delivery at a house on the street, then picked up his reflective triangles and got back into the cab.

He was getting ready to pull away, with his emergency flashers still on, when a 2012 Nissan drove into the back of the tractor-trailer. Police do not know why the woman driving the Nissan drove into the trailer, and no skid marks were found on the road.

The Nissan driver was transported to Bayfront Heath in St. Petersburg in critical condition. She died at 2 p.m., police said.

The name of the victim was not released, pending notification of her family
