Interstate-4 closed near downtown Tampa after crash kills 2, troopers say
TAMPA — Two people were killed in an early-morning crash that shut down the eastbound lanes of Interstate-4 Wednesday morning, says the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened near the interstate’s exit with Columbus Drive at mile marker No. 3, troopers say. But the eastbound lanes of the highway are closed starting at its inception near downtown and continuing to the crash site.
Few details about the crash were released, including the exact time it occurred.
The Highway Patrol sent a news release about the crash at 4:18 a.m. and said it involved three vehicles. The cause of the crash and the names of those involved were not released.
Troopers did not say what time they expect the highway to reopen.
