I-4 lanes reopened after two killed in fiery crash near Ybor City
TAMPA, Fla. — Two men were killed early Wednesday in a fiery crash near Ybor City that snarled Interstate 4 traffic for several hours.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 2 a.m.
Troopers said the driver of a Audi R8 was speeding eastbound on SR 400 approaching 50th Street when he shifted to the inside lane and struck the rear or a Toyota Camry.
The Camry rotated and caught fire before ending up on the shoulder of the highway.
Two men, the driver and passenger, of the Toyota died in the crash. Their identities have not been released as of yet.
The Audi struck a guard rail after hitting the Toyota and also ended up on the shoulder of the road.
The driver of the Audi, who is suspected of being impaired, was seriously injured, along with two female passengers.
The crash closed I-4 at 21st Street for about six hours.
The crash also closed is the northbound lanes of the Selmon Expressway Connector.
Lanes were reopened around 8 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
