15-Year-Old Plant City Girl Dies After Friday Motorcycle Crash In Tampa

TAMPA, FL. – A 15-year-old girl, a student at Plant City High School, has died from injuries suffered in a Friday motorcycle crash.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old boy, and passenger, a 15-year-old girl, both Plant High School students, were on a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Bay to Bay Blvd on Friday.

Police say that a Kia Sorento was traveling northbound across Bay to Bay Blvd. from the stop sign at Lois Ave. and did not see the motorcycle approaching at a high rate of speed.

 

The motorcyclist collided with the side of the Kia SUV, causing fatal injuries to the operator of the motorcycle.

The 15-year-old passenger sustained severe injuries and was transferred to TGH, but died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to police.

The driver of the Kia was also transported on Friday to a local hospital due to injuries he sustained in the collision and is expected to survive.

The crash remains under the preliminary stages of the investigation.
