Volusia County pedestrian hit, killed by car
A 31-year-old Orange City woman was killed Saturday night after getting by a vehicle while walking on a Volusia County road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At around 9 p.m., a 32-year-old DeLand man was driving a sedan south on Woodland Boulevard near U.S. Highway 92 when he encountered the woman walking in the southbound lanes of Woodland, said the FHP’s Lt. Kim Montes.
The front of the vehicle struck the woman, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, Montes said.
The man was uninjured.
FHP did not release any information about why the woman was on the road Saturday.
The crash remains under investigation.
