Fourth person has died in fiery Polk County crash

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A fourth person died overnight Tuesday after receiving injuries during a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Haines City.

Two other people have been hospitalized.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just after 12 p.m. on Lake Hatchineha Road, near Watkins Road, in an unincorporated part of the city.

Sheriff Grady Judd said deputies responded to reports of a possible abduction in Poinciana. The suspect reportedly fled the scene and was speeding and driving recklessly when he collided with 3 different vehicles.

“It was just someone fleeing from what was reported to us as a possible abduction, and the information still is sketchy because we’re putting it together but it was some kind of disturbance up in Poinciana community,” Judd explained.

Sheriff Grady Judd said authorities believe one of the deceased victims in the crash was that suspect.
