Teen slams car into Maitland home causing major damage
MAITLAND, Fla. — Two people were sent to the hospital after police say a teen slammed an SUV into a home in Maitland.
Maitland police say the driver was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Monday along Horatio Avenue, just east of Orlando Avenue.
“We heard shouting and screaming, so we came running outside,” said Nicole Burley, a neighbor who called 911.
“A car has gone off the road into a home!” said a caller in a 911 call.
Maitland Police confirmed it was a teen driver in a Porsche SUV who drove into the house where two people were inside.
Police said the people living there made it out with minor injuries.
Police did not say exactly how fast the driver was going but confirmed it was a high speed.
The driver also made it out of the wreckage without life-threatening injuries.
“The people in that house . . . I don’t know. You’ve got to think miracle when you see something like that,” Burley said.
Maitland police said they are investigating alcohol as a possible factor in the crash. The driver of the vehicle may face charges, according to police.
