Florida woman hit, killed by SUV on I-95 following an earlier crash

A 51-year-old Miami woman was killed after she was hit by an SUV Sunday evening on Interstate 95 in Brevard County after having previously been in another crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At around 5:45 p.m. the woman had pulled over her 2018 Honda HRV after it suffered a flat tire on north I-95, in the Melbourne area, from a rear end collision with a 2003 Nissan Altima, said the FHP’s Lt. Kim Montes.

Both vehicles were disabled in the center lane, Montes said.

Meanwhile, an SUV, driven by an 84-year-old man of Lake Worth, was traveling north. The driver saw the vehicles stopped in the center lane and swerved to the right to avoid crashing. The front of SUV hit the right side of the Honda and the woman while she was outside the vehicle.

The woman was transported to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
