Man, 38, killed in crash on I-95 in Boca Raton

A 38-year-old Orlando City man was killed in a predawn crash on Interstate 95 in Boca Raton Tuesday, according to the highway patrol.

The deadly crash, which took place on I-95 North just north of Glades Road, resulted in the closure of the highway’s northbound lanes for several hours during morning rush hour.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan driven by the Orlando man cut directly into the path of an SUV for reasons that are not known. The SUV had been traveling in the inside center lane.

It happened shortly before 3 a.m.

The front of the SUV hit the sedan, killing the Orlando man, the FHP said.

The driver of the SUV, identified only as a 47-year-old Greenacres man, had minor injuries. Both men were wearing seatbelts, according to the crash report.

Lanes remained closed for nearly four hours, with traffic diverted off the exit to Glades Road, while investigators processed the accident site.

All lanes were reopened by about 8:40 a.m.

The drivers’ names have not been released by authorities.

The FHP is investigating the crash.
