FHP: 4-vehicle crash kills woman, critically injures 2 men
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was killed and two men were critically injured in a crash involving four vehicles in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 28-year-old man from Orange Park was traveling southbound on US-17 near JP Hall Boulevard in a sedan around 6 a.m. on Saturday. The woman, a 35-year-old also from Orange Park, was his passenger.
Next to them, a 38-year-old man from Jacksonville was also traveling southbound.
For unknown reasons, the Jacksonville man’s sedan collided with the other sedan’s right side. As a result, the sedan driven by the 28-year-old was redirected across the median where two more vehicles, a pickup truck and a semitruck, were traveling northbound.
The sedan collided head on with the pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old Palatka man. The pickup truck then crashed into the left-side of the semitruck driven by a 57-year-old man from Apopka, Florida.
The third collision pushed the sedan and the pickup truck back into the median.
The woman died from the crash while the 28-year-old driver was critically injured. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Palatka man was also critically injured. Both the semitruck driver and the Jacksonville man in the sedan were uninjured.
No one has been identified. The Florida Highway Patrol says next of kin have not yet been notified.
