Pedestrian dead after crash on New Kings Road
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One person is dead after an early Sunday morning crash on the northwest side of the city.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car was traveling north on U.S. Highway 1 just north of Old Kings Road North towards another vehicle that was parked in the inside lane due to an earlier crash.
The driver of the car was unable to avoid the collision and collided with the pedestrian around 6 a.m. After the impact with the pedestrian, the car hit the left side of the other vehicle.
The 39-year-old pedestrian was killed, FHP said.
Southbound lanes were open after the crash, but the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was directing northbound traffic onto Old Kings Road.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
