JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 58-year-old man was seriously hurt on Friday after his motorcycle struck a mattress that was laying in the travel lane on I-295 North near Old St. Augustine Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man, who is from St. Augustine, was traveling northbound on I-295 when he came across the mattress.
The collision caused him to lose control of the motorcycle and it overturned before falling on its side. The man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. He was wearing a helmet.
The crash closed all lanes on I-295 Northbound at Old St. Augustine Road.
