Crash shut down Mathews Bridge westbound during game day traffic
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All westbound lanes were momentarily blocked on the Mathew’s Bridge while the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office worked to clear a crash involving injuries on Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened sometime before 12:30. The Sheriff’s Office initially announced one lane of travel was blocked, but about an hour later closed the westbound side entirely.
The crash caused significant delays for some Jaguars fans making their way to the 1 p.m. game at TIAA Bank Field Stadium.
By 1:45 p.m. all lanes were reopened. It’s not clear how many vehicles were involved or how many people were injured.
