JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fire rescue used the “jaws of life” to remove a Clay County deputy from their patrol vehicle early Thursday morning after a crash at Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road.
The crash happened at 4:40 a.m. and closed all westbound lanes. All lanes have since been reopened.
The dump truck driver was making a turn and hit the front driver side door of the patrol car, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The Clay County deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but is alert and conscious. The dump truck driver was not injured.
A traffic investigation is still underway.
