North Fort Myers teen seriously injured in Bayshore Road crash

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A North Fort Myers teenager was seriously injured after she was hit by a pickup truck on Bayshore Road near Williams Road Sunday evening.

Just before 9 p.m., a 77-year-old New York man was driving a pickup on Bayshore Road when he hit a 16-year-old North Fort Myers girl who was in a crosswalk, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the teen was crossing Bayshore Road just east of Williams Road when she was hit by the pickup truck.

Westbound lanes of Bayshore Road were shut down Sunday while the crash was under investigation.

The teenager was seriously injured in the crash. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were uninjured, investigators said.

Troopers said the 16-year-old is also under investigation, but no charges have been filed.
