Cape Coral police search for hit-and-run driver who injured bicyclist
CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Cape Coral police are looking for a driver who hit a bicyclist and drove off.
The incident happened Monday near NE 24th Avenue and NE 10th Terrace around 9:44 p.m.
Police said the area is lit with street lights and the posted speed limit is 40 mph, adding the driver was “inattentive” of their surrounding.
Reports show the driver clipped the bicyclist with the side of their car and a side mirror broke off.
Police matched the mirror’s serial number to a two-door black Mustang. Anyone who sees a Mustang with matching damage is asked to report it to the police.
The bicyclist survived the crash but was taken to the hospital with a possible broken leg.
This is the fourth hit-and-run crash reported within city limits in the last three months.
Drivers who leave the scene of a crash could face felony charges.
