Three killed in Sarasota roundabout crash
SARASOTA, Fla. – Three people were killed in a crash on Myrtle Road in Sarasota just after midnight Saturday.
A woman from Venice and two others from Brevard County were found dead on the scene around 12:30 a.m., according to the Sarasota Police Department.
Police determined the crash happened when the driver lost control and drove over the roundabout, through a fence, and hit a tree.
Investigators believe the three were friends who were visiting the area.
The Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit and Criminalistics Unit responded to the scene early Sunday morning.
Police said they believe speed was a factor and are awaiting toxicology results.
The crash remains under investigation.
