PASCO COUNTY, FL. – An 81-year-old Tampa man was killed in a crash that happened around 9:30 pm on Wednesday in Wesley Chapel.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the 81-year-old man was driving 2013 Infiniti G20, southbound on Wiregrass Ranch Boulevard approaching the private drive of 28500 State Road 54, an area under construction.
Troopers say for unknown reasons, the driver failed to stop at end of road and collided first with a construction barrier fence and then a 2000 John Deere 470G construction excavator.
Investigators say the man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash and his passenger, a 13-year-old Tapa girl, suffered serious injuries.
