St. Petersburg man riding electric scooter killed in hit-and-run
A 23-year-old man driving an electric scooter was killed early Sunday morning when he fell into the inside lane of 66th Street and was hit by on oncoming vehicle, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man had been trying to cross over a raised concrete median near 51st Avenue N when he fell into the southbound lane, the report says. He was hit around 3:30 a.m.
The vehicle that hit the man did not stop, according to the report. The man on the scooter died at the scene.
Deputies do not know the make or model of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run and are asking people with information to contact Crime Stoppers or Florida Highway Patrol by calling 813-558-1800.
