Pasco Co. teacher critically injured after being hit, trapped under SUV
An Anclote High School teacher suffered “serious injuries” on Thursday morning after she was hit and trapped underneath an SUV.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a 24-year-old man was driving a 2020 Kia Sorento in the rear parking lot of the high school when he failed to see the 28-year-old female teacher.
After being hit, the teacher, whose identity has not been released, was freed from underneath the Sorento and taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Drivers in the area are asked to use extreme caution as first responders work and students arrive at the school. The school is located at 1540 Sweetbriar Drive in Holiday.
Pasco County Schools said it’s working closely with police and Pasco County Fire Rescue at this time. The district said the Pasco County Schools Crisis Team is at the school to support students and staff who witnessed the crash.
“Right now, all we can do is pray for the teacher who was injured and do our best to take care of the students and staff at Anclote High School,’’ said Kurt Browning, Superintendent of Pasco County Schools. “This is a traumatic event for everyone involved. I want to thank Pasco Fire Rescue and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office for their quick response and for their support.”
