The northbound lanes of Tyrone Boulevard closed overnight between 5th Avenue N and 9th Avenue North due to an overnight crash.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 when the driver of white Infiniti traveling south on Tyrone Blvd lost control near 9th Avenue North.
The car flipped and caught fire. Fire Rescue crews arrived and knocked down the fire with an extinguisher then began the process of extricating the 26 year-old male driver who was trapped in the car. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital with life threatening burns and injuries.
He is reportedly in very critical condition. Updates will be posted if/when they are made available.
All lanes reopened to traffic at approximately 10:30 a.m.
