Poinciana woman killed in head-on crash, troopers say

A Poinciana driver was killed early Sunday after troopers say another driver crashed head-on into her vehicle.

The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of Poinciana Boulevard and Crestone Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. She was not identified.

The driver and passenger in the second vehicle, who are both from Orlando, were taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injures, according to an FHP report.

The 18-year-old was driving southbound on Poinciana Boulevard around 5:15 a.m., while a 20-year-old woman and her 39-year-old male passenger were driving northbound, troopers said. For an unknown reason, the second vehicle traveled into the southbound lane, striking the front of the first vehicle.

All of the vehicle occupants were wearing their seatbelts, the report said.

FHP said charges are pending against the 20-year-old driver.

“This crash remains under investigation,” according to the report.
