FHP: St. Cloud man dies in Friday night Turnpike collision at toll plaza

The Florida Highway Patrol has reported that a 50-year-old St. Cloud man died Friday night when his vehicle collided with a Florida’s Turnpike toll plaza.

At around 9:45 p.m., per the FHP report, the driver was headed southbound, and for an unknown reason, failed to slow down when approaching the Three Lakes Toll Plaza, south of Kissimmee Park Road. He crashed head on into one of the plaza lanes. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene. The southbound Turnpike lanes were closed at Kissimmee Park Road until about midnight due to the incident investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
