Officer Struck in Pedestrian Crash Involving Officer on 22nd St
Miami Beach, FL (January 28, 2022) – On Thursday evening, January 27, a pedestrian crash took place at an intersection in Miami Beach involving two officers.
According to Miami Beach officials, the accident happened at the intersection of 22nd Street and Collins Avenue. An officer was attempting to arrest a robbery suspect who was fleeing on foot in the area. While running after him, he was unintentionally struck by another officer who was driving in the area.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The police officer who was struck was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. The suspect, who was also struck, was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for treatment. The parties are both expected to be okay.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could resume as normal.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
