PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A child has been rushed to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Pembroke Pines near an elementary school.
According to Pembroke Pines police, a girl riding a bicycle was struck by a driver who ran a stop sign at NW 136 Avenue at 10 Street. Police say the girl was crossing the street in the crosswalk.
The girl was rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
She is a student at nearby Lakeside Elementary School, according to police.
No other information has been released.
The driver was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The intersection remains blocked off and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
