Man arrested for DUI manslaughter after Ocala woman killed in crash on SR 200 in Citrus County
A man was arrested for DUI manslaughter after an Ocala woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on State Road 200 in Citrus County on Monday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, 38-year-old Hernando resident David Michael Kahler was traveling southbound on State Road 200 in a pickup truck at around 6 p.m.
A 33-year-old Ocala woman was traveling northbound on State Road 200 in a sedan, and a 28-year-old Ocala woman was traveling behind her in an SUV.
North of County Road 491, Kahler’s pickup truck crossed the center line, entered the northbound lane, and collided head-on with the sedan.
The pickup truck rotated into the path of the SUV and was struck on the passenger side. The truck then traveled onto the east shoulder and struck a mailbox before coming to a stop.
The sedan and SUV also rotated and came to a final stop on the east shoulder.
The driver of the sedan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The SUV’s driver sustained serious injuries, and minor injuries were reported for her 3-year-old passenger.
Kahler sustained minor injuries and was arrested by FHP troopers. He is facing multiple charges including DUI manslaughter, DUI serious injury, DUI property damage, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The names of the other individuals involved in the accident were not released, per FHP policy.
