Unidentified woman killed in Jacksonville crash
JACKSONVILLE Fla. — An unidentified woman was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Jacksonville.
Florida Highway Patrol responded to a car fire at approximately 4 a.m. on Interstate295, north of Herlong Rd.
The woman was driving southbound on I-295 in a black Dodge Challenger, when she traveled off the roadway and struck two light poles. The car ignited upon striking the second light pole and finally came to a stop in a drainage outlet. The driver died at the scene before troopers arrived.
FHP reports the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The investigation is ongoing, pending the positive identification of the driver.
