Driver abandons pickup truck after crashing into light pole in Lehigh

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A driver abandoned a pickup truck after crashing into a light pole in Lehigh Acres Friday morning.

Around 1 a.m. troopers responded to the area of State Road 81 and 40th Street SW after someone crashed into a light pole and took off, according to the Florida Highway Patrol

Troopers said the driver veered off the road and hit the utility pole before continuing to drive and eventually abandoning the vehicle on Rod and Gun Club Road.

Investigators found a heavily damaged pickup truck with no driver in sight, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The unknown driver ran from the scene leaving the truck behind, troopers said.
