Cape Coral woman seriously injured in Del Prado Blvd crash
CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A Cape Coral woman was seriously injured after swerving into oncoming traffic Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Just before 2 p.m., a 33-year-old Cape Coral woman was headed north on Del Prado Blvd S near Beach Pkwy when an unknown driver tried to make a left turn in front of her at the intersection, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
Police said surveillance footage showed the woman overreacted and swerved into southbound lanes of traffic smashing into two other cars.
The impact of the crash caused one of the cars to lift off the ground and land on the hood of the other car, police said.
The woman was found unconscious in her car and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries that were later downgraded to non-life-threatening. Investigators said alcohol or drugs are a factor in this crash.
The two other drivers including a 74-year-old Cape Coral man and a 69-year-old Cape Coral man were not seriously injured in the crash, according to CCPD.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact to Cape Coral Police Department by calling 239-574-3223 or submitting an anonymous tip online.
