Ft Lauderdale, FL – Fatal Bicycle Accident on Ave of the Arts Bridge

Fort Lauderdale, FL (December 4, 2021) – At 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, December 4, a fatal bicycle accident occurred in Fort Lauderdale.

According to Broward County officials, the accident happened on the Avenue of the Arts Bridge around the area of Las Olas Boulevard. A driver was in a red vehicle driving on the bridge when they suddenly struck a bicyclist who was traveling in the area. The bicycle was badly mangled and the driver of the vehicle came to a stop after the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was badly injured in the accident. They were later pronounced dead at the scene due to their injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident has been cooperating with investigators.
