Pedestrian killed in single-vehicle crash
A 66-year-old man from Venice was killed Friday evening after he was hit by a car while walking near U.S. 41 and Gulf Avenue.
The pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 when a sport utility vehicle traveling north collided with him. The walker was transported from the scene by EMS and later pronounced dead.
The 21-year-driver was uninjured and the 45-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
The crash investigation remains ongoing.
